Haddon Hall | 1910-1920 Original Vintage Poster
1910-1920s original vintage British stock theatrical poster of Haddon Hall by Stafford & Co. A woman holds a riding crop in this beautiful operetta poster. Haddon Hall is an English light opera with music by Arthur Sullivan and a libretto by Sydney Grundy. It premiered at the Savoy Theatre on September 24, 1892 for a run of 204 performances. Haddon Hall is a dramatization of an actual historical event (or a legend, depending on whom you believe): Dorothy Vernon's elopement in 1563 with John Manners, son of Thomas Manners, 1st Earl of Rutland.[1] Grundy moved the story forward to about 1660, adding the conflict between the Royalists and the Roundheads as a backdrop to the plot.
